"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel for the rest of the day." -- Frank Sinatra |

It might as well
be swing…
Luck be a lady My name is Alan Murrie and I am based in Fife, Scotland. Unlike many equivalents, this site is written from a personal point of view, not by a promotions firm, simply because this jazz is personal to me. Singing the songs of Frank Sinatra was something that started almost by accident for me, when I reluctantly agreed to perform I’ve Got You Under My Skin in a small bar one night for some friends. Much like Sinatra's live shows, that tune is in virtually every show I do. Seizing an opportunity to perform for an audience at a charity event, my first show fittingly was staged at 'The Sands' - no, not the famous Las Vegas one, but apt never-the-less. Performing as Sinatra has taken me to venues the length of the country, along the way working with the some of the most talented musicians around, including the magnificent Chris Dean Orchestra and Phil Dando Big Band.
You've either got, or you haven't got style My performance covers a wide range of Sinatra’s songs from the 50s onwards, my aim being to capture how Frank performed them live. From the swing tunes to the torch songs, or saloon songs as he liked to call them. Transporting the audience to a small, dimly-lit saloon in the wee hours of the morning (when everybody is gassed), with just the sound of piano and voice. Whether I'm performing to playback or with a live big band/orchestra, I'd like to think that even long-time Sinatra fans will appreciate the detail, respect and passion I put into each performance. The greatest compliment I could receive would be for a non-Sinatra fan to see me perform then go out and buy one of Frank's albums - then I've succeeded in doing what Nancy Sinatra calls "keeping the flame"! To quote one of Sinatra's songs - the best is yet to come - and we'll make all the stops along the way!
